Let's turn up the juice and see what shakes loose

I took my first dose of anti-malaria medication tonight. "If you have deep rooted schizophrenia or depression, this medication will bring those conditions to the surface," stated the travel immunologist . I hope all those screws in my head are tightened down. If not, we'll find out soon enough.

If the disease doesn't kill you...

...the prevention will seriously f' you up. I am leaving for India next week and wanted to make sure I was well prepared for my travel. I met with a travel immunologist last week to update any necessary vaccinations. The doctor said while the current risk of Malaria in India is lower than normal, there is nonetheless a risk. If there is a Malaria infected mosquito within a 100 miles of Delhi, that bastard will find me and bite my ass. I guarantee that.

I picked up my Malaria prevention medicine last night at the pharmacy. My insurance would only pay for half of the prescription. Half? WTF? If I caught Malaria and needed treatment they would have to pay for a lot more than the cost of a few pills. I ponied up the remaining amount for what the travel immunologist prescribed.

I rarely take medicines. In fact, a bottle of ibuprofen will last me two years or more. I prefer to avoid medicines unless absolutely necessary. Why put poisons in your body? Poisoning myself with alcohol - no problem. The guy that said ignorance is bliss must have been referring to how he felt prior to finding out some alarming information. I should have just taken the pills; completely unaware of what was happening to me. But no...I have to be inquisitive so I read the side effects print-out that came with the medicine. "Holy Shit," I exclaimed. I love exclaiming. Below is the actual list of side effects for the malaria prevention medicine I am taking:

This medication may cause stomach upset, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, hair loss, ringing in the ears, dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, insomnia, strange dreams, or lightheadness.

Vomiting? Ringing in the ears? Hair Loss? Why can't the side effects be clear thinking, hair growth, and spontaneous erections? That I could live with. I think it's great that it can cause drowsiness or insomnia. You might get sleepy, but then again you might not be able to sleep. Strange dreams? What kind of strange dreams? Doc, are we talking about
Hayden Panettiere eating a banana and smiling at me or are we talking about bats descending upon me while driving a convertible to Las Vegas? "You poor fool! Wait till you see those goddamn bats." BTW, when I first read the paperwork I thought the last side effect was LIGHTHEARTEDNESS. Anyone that really knows me would understand how truly freighting that side effect would have been.

Delwest or Northta? Nope, just Delta

It seems that Delta and Northwest have agreed on a merger creating the biggest airline in the world in terms of traffic. The new entity will be headquartered in Atlanta and will retain the Delta name.

Now this is a useful site

This site shows hows to order a beer in 50 languages.

http://www.etiquettesystems.com/how-to-order-a-beer/

Now if I could find a site that shows me how to say "How much for those two ladies? & "I demand to speak to the U.S. Consulate!" That would be a truly useful site.

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'"- Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy

I think this is the best Atlanta Promo film EVER!

Of course I am a little biased.
I was part of a recent film competition called Rapid I Movement. All creativity (from script to post production) takes place in a 50 hour period. Not only did our team complete the project in the 50 hour period, but our team placed 1st in the competition and will screen in the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival.
